Copper Plating Onto Old Nickel Plate
Solution

Q: When I try to copper plate (acid or flash) onto a nickel plate that is not fresh (more than 24 hours old), sometimes the copper peels off. How do I correct this?

A: This is due to the nickel passivating. Use our Stainless Steel Activator product to plate over the nickel, then copper plate. You could also strip the nickel off, re-nickel plate, then copper plate.
