Changes To Electroless Kits

IMPORTANT CHANGES TO INSTRUCTIONS FOR ELECTROLESS NICKEL, KROME, COBALT AND BORON NITRIDE PLATING INSTRUCTIONS

Instead of the ceramic heaters mentioned in the plating manual, we now supply glass lined tanks and a thermometer with these kits.

The plating solution must be heated to 195 deg F (165-185 for Boron Nitride), by placing your glass lined tank onto a stove top, range, or hot plate. The plating solution is not flammable, so any heat source may be used.

Monitor the temperature with the included thermometer and adjust the hotplate until it maintains the required temperature.

Inspect your tank regularly for chips or cracks in the glass lining. A chip will cause that area to be plated, depleting your nickel and possibly crashing your plating bath.

Do not use regular, unlined, pots for plating. The solution will plate the inside, causing your plating bath to become depleted and crash.

Mist Control Balls

It has come to our attention that the plating manual is not clear on the use of the plastic balls in these kits.

Simply pour the entire contents of the bag of balls into the tank. They float on top of the solution and help keep heat in the plating tank. They may remain in the tank at all times.
